Help! Why is my pic/personal information on Eccieleaks? I have nothing to do with Eccie or the "hobby" world.

Unfortunately, you are not alone. There are several different reasons that explain why this happens:

1) Someone was mad at you and wanted to embarrass you. They could have created an account and posted it or emailed to the leakers in charge.

2) Someone is playing a prank on you. I know, seems a bit much for a prank, doesn't it, but some friends mean well and have no common sense.

3) You were confused with someone who is involved with Eccie. The leakers frequently get confused by similar handles/names/pictures and don't care about the effects if they make mistakes.

4) Your name/address/pic/etc. was randomly selected and used. I have had quite a few people report that the leaker posted a picture or information about their Eccie handle that was just wrong and they have no idea why. So far, I have been given examples where the face pic, the car pic, the address, or the house picture wasn't even close to being correct. That could be because the leakers made a mistake or because they just want to convince people that they know more than they do. Either way, the wrong information happens to be yours.

5) You might have a connection to someone who is in the hobby and you just don't know it. The leakers will gladly embarrass/harrass/blackmail/stalk an uninvolved innocent person if they think that it will hurt someone that they have targeted.

There was a bank robber in Texas who took hostages during a botched robbery. He warned the police that he would kill the hostages if they didn't let him escape, and during the inevitable capture, he did kill some hostages. Crazy as he was, he elected to represent himself in court. In the ensuing trial, he declared himself totally innocent of the murder charges and blamed the police, arguing that they were responsible because he warned them that the hostages were at risk and they didn't comply. The loon really thought that he was innocent.

That's the kind of mentality you are dealing with on Eccieleaks. They truly believe that they the pain or suffering that they afflict is justified.
